Homie Privacy Policy

Homie is a friend compass provided by Ganotis Holdings. Homie does not use advertising or tracking SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell your data.

Information Homie Handles

Account and profile information: Homie stores a random account identifier, public signing key, username, chosen color, installation identifier, authentication credentials, Apple Push Notification service device token, friend requests, and friendships. Your private signing key is stored in your iCloud Keychain and private CloudKit database. Ganotis Holdings does not receive that private key.

Precise location: When Findable is on, Homie sends your latitude, longitude, accuracy, and observation time to its production service when the app receives an accepted location update. Only accepted friends can access your retained last-known location. Homie’s service provider can process these coordinates while providing the service.

Nearby features: Show Nearby advertises your Homie username and color over the local network while the nearby screen is open. Close Range relays a temporary Apple Nearby Interaction token only to accepted friends. Distance and direction measurements remain on the participating devices.

Direct Nearby Updates: When Direct Nearby Updates is enabled, your current location may be sent directly to a paired friend nearby while you are Findable. This copy uses a secure device-to-device connection provided by iOS and does not pass through our servers. Normal location sharing may continue separately through the existing service.

Find Me requests: While you navigate to an accepted friend, Homie temporarily stores the active navigator and friend account identifiers, the participating installation, and the session and request deadlines. This lets the friend receive and respond to a Find Me request, lets accepted friends see an active Find Me deadline, and lets Homie end the session after confirmed arrival. Active rows are deleted when the session stops or expires and are not retained as a history of who navigated to whom. Direct Nearby Updates may also carry a request, acknowledgement, active Find Me deadline, or arrival confirmation between paired devices.

We may collect aggregate counts about feature enablement, pairing, connection reliability, session duration, and broad distance ranges. These analytics do not include location coordinates, exact distance, friend identities, paired-device identifiers, or a connection event timeline.

Improve Nearby Direction: If you enable this optional setting, Apple’s Camera Assistance processes camera input on your device to improve the nearby direction arrow. Camera images are not shown, saved, or transmitted. Homie stores whether this setting is enabled for the installation and when it was first enabled so it can create aggregate usage metrics.

Security and operational information: Homie processes installation credentials, authentication challenges, and hashed network identifiers used for authentication, abuse prevention, and rate limiting.

Aggregate service metrics: Homie creates aggregate service metrics from existing account activity, such as the number of active accounts, friendships, friend requests, Findable accounts, Find Me requests and responses, delivery paths, expirations, and confirmed arrivals. The stored metrics contain counts only and do not contain usernames, account identifiers, installation identifiers, locations, exact distances, or an event timeline.

How Information Is Used

Homie uses this information only to create and secure your account, manage friend requests and friendships, notify you about friend and Find Me requests, coordinate active navigation and Find Me sessions, share current location with accepted friends, provide nearby discovery and Close Range, recognize a confirmed arrival, operate invite links, prevent abuse, and maintain the service. Find Me request notifications may use Apple’s Time Sensitive delivery level because they are intended for a friend who is actively trying to meet you.

Service Providers and Other Recipients

Cloudflare provides Homie’s network, Worker, and database infrastructure. Apple provides iCloud Keychain, CloudKit, notification, location, local network, and Nearby Interaction services. Accepted friends receive your username, color, and current shared location. Temporary Close Range tokens are shared only with accepted friends.

Service providers are permitted to handle information only as needed to provide their services and under protections consistent with this policy.

Retention and Deletion

Homie keeps one last-known location while Findable is on, including when you do not have friends yet. Only accepted friends can access it, and they can see when it was updated. Homie deletes the location when you turn Findable off, when the app detects that location permission was revoked, when you delete your account, or after 90 days without an update. If you turn Findable off while offline, the change syncs when you are back online. Removing a friend ends that friend’s access.

Nearby Interaction tokens stop being available after five minutes. Friend requests expire after seven days. Active navigation lasts up to one hour, and Find Me lasts up to 20 minutes. Records for active navigation and Find Me sessions are removed when those sessions stop or expire. Some short-lived request records may remain for up to one hour to prevent duplicate delivery, keep resolved requests from reappearing, and measure aggregate usage without retaining a navigation history. A previous username can be reserved as an alias for up to 30 days.

Account and friendship information remains while your account is active. You can delete your account in Homie’s Settings. Account deletion removes usernames, aliases, requests, friendships, installations, notification tokens, authentication challenges, locations, colors, and usable credentials.

Homie retains the random account identifier and creation and deletion timestamps as a security tombstone so an old synchronized credential cannot recreate a deleted account. The tombstone has no username, color, friendships, locations, installation secret, or usable signing key.

Your Choices

You can turn Findable off to stop sharing and remove your retained last-known location. You can ignore a Find Me request without notifying the requester, stop Find Me at any time, and manage notification access in Homie or the iOS Settings app. You can remove a friend to end that friend’s access without deleting the location available to your other accepted friends. You can revoke location, camera, notification, or local network permission in the iOS Settings app. You can permanently delete your account from Homie’s Settings.

Children

Homie is not directed to children under 13, and Ganotis Holdings does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

This policy may be updated when Homie’s features or data practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
